Fred Meyer graduated from Mesa College in Grand Junction, Colorado, in 1971. He worked as a railroad clerk for seventeen years then changed careers after studying evolving environmental issues and gained accreditation as a Registered Environmental Manager, through the auspices of The National Registry of Environmental Professionals.

Meyer grew up in Western Colorado, in a house that some may refer to as haunted. Whether you believe in haunted encounters or not, there were several inexplicable and unexplainable occurrences that took place during his youth in that house, sparking a lifetime of interest in the weird. Sometimes, it seemed as though strange occurrences and odd incidences sought him out.
